ORGANIZE YOUR CLOSET THIS SPRING IN 9 QUICK AND EASY STEPS
Is your closet overflowing with clothes? Does it take you a long time to put together an outfit? Are winter clothes hanging next to spring and summer clothing?
If so, spring is a good time to organize your closet. Take these nine quick and easy steps to organize your closet for the new season. >>>
#1 Sort Through Your Winter Clothes
Now that the winter is over, it’s a good time to sort through all your winter clothes. Donate, sell or give away sweaters, pants, skirts or any other clothing that you did not wear at all this winter. Throw away clothes that you will never wear again because of broken zips, stains that you can’t remove or rips that can’t be repaired.
#2 Find Winter Clothes You Can Wear In The Spring
While you’re sorting through your winter clothes, look for any items that you can also wear in the spring, and put them to one side. For example, you might wear a winter scarf on a cool spring morning or a lightweight sweater on a colder day.
#3 Store Your Winter Clothes
Once you’ve sorted through all your winter clothes, it’s time to store items that won’t be worn again until next winter. Make sure each item is clean before placing it in a cardboard storage box, plastic storage bag or vacuum storage bag. Protect your winter clothing by adding a fabric softener sheet or moth balls to each box or bag.
#4 Take Your Spring Clothes Out of Storage
Bring out all the clothes you wore in the spring last year and sort through them. Hang up all the clothes you’re happy to wear again this year. If you find clothes that look dated, no longer fit, or don’t suit you, put them in a plastic bag and donate or sell each item. Better still, hold a clothes-swap party with your friends and acquire some new clothes for free whilst getting rid of those you no longer need.
#5 Organize Your Spring Clothing
In your closet, arrange your spring clothing by type of garment and color, so that all your cardigans are together, sorted by color, and all your dresses are side-by-side, also arranged by color. This will make it much easier to mix and match items when choosing an outfit.
#6 Sort Through Your Summer Clothing
Spring is also a good time to plan ahead and sort through your summer clothing. Get rid of anything you won’t wear this summer, and if you have enough space, hang up your summer clothing in your closet. You may be able to wear some summer clothes, such as short-sleeved tops and capri pants, on warmer spring days.
#7 Sort Out Your Footwear
Sort through all your winter footwear and either store or let go of each pair of shoes, boots and sneakers. Bring out your spring and summer footwear and place each pair of shoes, sandals and flip flops in your closet. Arrange them by type of footwear and color. Discard any footwear that is past its best or does not fit properly.
#8 Arrange Your Accessories
Look through all your jewelry, hair accessories, purses, belts and scarves, and decide which items can be worn in the spring. Discard anything that is broken or otherwise no longer wearable.
Pack away winter-only accessories such as Christmas-themed earrings and heavy winter scarves. Store costume jewelry in clear plastic trays divided into compartments, lightweight scarves in clear plastic boxes, and belts on belt racks.
#9 Make A Shopping List
Once you’ve organized all your clothing, footwear and accessories for the new season, look through your closet and identify gaps in your wardrobe. Make a shopping list so that you know exactly what you need to buy to complete your spring wardrobe.
Storing your winter clothes and organizing your spring and summer wardrobe will be worth the time and effort required to do so. Once you’ve organized your closet for the spring, it will be easy to put together weather-appropriate, color-coordinated outfits. BIKINI
